HISTORY OF MIKE'S MEMORIAL LAKE COUNTY BASEBALL LEAGUE

In 1968, following the loss of his 12-year-old son to an asthma attack, Lou Lindebaum started Mike's Memorial Bronco League. Each year, the Mike's Memorial Award is given to a player within the league who best exemplifies good sportsmanship and fair play. The tradition of the Award lives on, and today, through the dedication and commitment of volunteers, the league has evolved into the Lake County Baseball League.

MIKE'S MEMORIAL LEAGUE

We offer leagues for ages U9-U14 and we have no residency requirements. Our format does not penalize teams from smaller communities by giving teams from larger communities a competitive advantage, based on the size of their population base.

We believe regardless which High School our players will be attending, playing competitive games week in and week out will better prepare our players for High School and beyond, when compared to other leagues.

Youth players that are not challenged regularly may not develop the necessary skills to thrive in High School or beyond.  Our format provides top-of-the-line competition, most every game.  As a result, our teams generally excel in tournament play against non-league teams and our former players are some of the better performers at area High Schools each year.

Our 15-22 game regular season schedule allows teams that enjoy playing regularly in weekend tournaments the opportunity to play against solid competition during the week, without forfeiting much needed practice time. With a regular season stretching over 13-14 weeks, teams do not play more than one game a week, most weeks. Our flexible scheduling policy allows coaches to arrange their own schedule, avoiding conflicts.

A batter is not required to make an attempt to avoid being hit by a pitch to be awarded first base.
